Convergence, 6th Annual Vancouver Contact Improvisation Festival May 3 - 5, 2024

This is WCCI’s May 3 - 5, 2024 Contact Improvisation Festival in collaboration with Simon Fraser University School for the Contemporary Arts (SCA), which has generously offered three dance studio’s for our use in downtown Vancouver. We will be offering a multitude of inspiring classes over three days. Delia Brett brings 35 years of CI experience to her classes. The heart of her teaching is informed by 8 yrs of work with LGBTQ2+ youth so she takes creating safe and inclusive spaces for ALL identities very seriously. Cyrus Khambatta will be teaching two master classes. Natalie Rousseau and Sasha Klapkiw have a two hour somatic experiencing class on Sunday that promises to deepen the conversation. As well our local EDAM and Salt Spring teachers will be offering up their unique styles and knowledge. We will also provide corollary studies in everything from clown, to improvisation. The festival has been curated to provide a fascinating breadth of material intended to offer something of interest to the professional dancer as well as to the jammers, flow folx, yogis, somanauts and those interested in embodiment and healing arts. It’s going to be rich material and the opportunity for cross-pollination is unparalleled.
